Is there love that works at second glance? When you tell the story of “Daiana Lou“ and her producer Peter Hoffmann, the answer is definitely “yes“. Summer 2017: Hoffmann walks through the Berlin Mauerpark when he sees Daiana Mingarelli and Luca Pignalberi. “Addicted“ is the first song he ever heard from Daiana Lou – and Hoffmann, successful producer of Falco, Tokio Hotel and Lina, knows that he is experiencing something unique: Daiana’s powerful voice, Luca’s driving riffs, her unconventional shared drum playing. Hoffmann is thrilled, but the collaboration doesn’t start until a year later. He doesn’t find out until 2018 that the two don’t live in Italy, as he assumed, but in Berlin. Hoffmann walks again through the Berlin Mauerpark, and again he sees the Italian duo. Hoffmann is extremely touched by the music of the two, he invites them to his studio in Vögelsen. The joint work begins.
If you tell the story of Daiana Lou, there is also love at first sight. It all started with John Mayer – a little more than six years ago, in April 2013. During an open jam session near Rome, Daiana and Luca went on stage at the same time and within a few seconds the two agreed on “I’m gonna find another you“ by the American singer-songwriter. Luca played the song on guitar, Daiana joined in. Love and understanding at first sight. “Since then we haven’t left the stage“, says Daiana.
The stage can be almost any place for the two of them – whether on the streets and squares of Rome, in a small club to in Berlin’s Mauerpark. Daiana and Luca create their very own stage – through their presence and their unique division of instruments. This can be seen, among other things, in the playing of the drums. Daiana plays the snare, Luca Hi-Hat and base drum.
